We are pleased to be able to offer a short course by online distance learning in Professional Ethics. The course is studied over 8 weeks, and leads to 15 credits at postgraduate level. The course is one module (IDEA5220M) from our MA Applied and Professional Ethics, and can now be taken as a standalone course. Students who successfully complete the short course will be able to submit these credits as advanced standing should they decide to go on to apply for the MA Applied and Professional Ethics.
Particularly suitable as CPD for professionals from a wide range of backgrounds, the course introduces the concept of professional ethics, explores the nature of professional ethics, and will introduce you to some of the core topics in the area.
The central question that we will address is the question of whether professional ethics is in any way distinctive. Is professional ethics just ethics, but focusing on professions, or is the role of being a professional ethically significant in its own right, such that it is not possible to really engage with professional ethics without first considering what it is to be a professional? In addition, you will be introduced to a selection of topics in professional ethics.
The programme is delivered entirely online via the University's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Find out more about study by online distance learning.
