City College Nottingham

City College Nottingham is a community led education and training provider and Social Enterprise, which was established in 1991. It has been serving communities across the City (and now across the East and West Midlands) for more than 20 years, supporting and facilitating skills and knowledge development to both unemployed and employed learners from age 14 and above.

The College is accredited as a recognised delivery Centre by a number of nationally and internationally recognised Awarding Organisations such as City & Guilds, Pearson Education and many others.

Through its Further Education (FE) partnership arrangements, the College is experienced in the delivery of Skills Funding Agency (SFA) government funded programmes, including Foundation Learning Tier pathways and Apprenticeship Frameworks, using the Common Inspection Framework as the benchmark for quality. In recognition of its operational standards, the College has achieved a number of externally assured quality marks, including ISO9001, Matrix, and Positive About Disabled People.

In addition to these quality marks, the College is monitored for educational standards by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) for Educational Oversight. In its May 2016 inspection, the College achieved a Grade 1 overall (“Exceeds Expectations”), and a Grade 1 in each of the three areas of monitoring (i.e. The Quality of the Curriculum, Teaching and Learners Achievement; Students Welfare including Health & Safety; The Effectiveness of Governance, Leadership and Management).

The College strives to maintain a committed and well qualified team of Tutors/Assessors, IQA’s and Administrative/Management staff who are representative of the multi-cultural, multi-national learner population, who have the skills and experience to engage with target learners, including the utilisation of bi-lingual Tutors and delivery in off-site community venues (where appropriate), in order to meet the needs of “hard to reach” groups. Through its established networks, the College has also developed an Employer Engagement strategy targeting SME and BME employers, and voluntary sector organisations including PATRA.

The College delivers some of its Apprenticeships through these employers and through Nottingham Builders Ltd, another Social Enterprise. The College also has a track record of delivering bespoke “special” projects, including projects funded by the Home Office Integrate fund. Other partners include schools (for 14+ Alternative Provision), Nottingham City Council, Communities Inc, and Job Centre Plus.
