The Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire seeks a highly-motivated individual to engage local people in wildlife conservation at the Wildlife Trust BCN’s newest nature reserve, the Nene Wetlands, which showcases the Wildlife Trust’s vision of a Living Landscape.
Nene Wetlands Education and Community Officer
Salary: Up to £21,500
Hours: Full Time, 37.5hours per week,
Location: Rushden Lakes, Northamptonshire (initially from Lings office in Northampton prior to centre opening)
The Nene Wetlands education and community officer will be part of team of staff and volunteers who will support each other in making the Nene Wetlands, one of the most important wildlife areas in Northamptonshire, a success both for nature, for people and the Trust.
Based from the Rushden Lakes visitor centre (opening in summer 2017) you will lead on development and delivery of a broad range of community activities including visits to the Nene Wetlands for schools and community groups, family and community wildlife-themed events, Little Bugs Club sessions for young families, seasonal trails and volunteering programmes. You will also develop an innovative programme of outreach activities to engage the potential new audiences that will visit the adjacent retail and leisure complex, and raise awareness of the Nene Wetlands through a suite of communication activities.
You will work as part of a team with staff and volunteers to achieve the vision of the Nene Wetlands including support for reserves management and visitor centre management. Subject to notice periods, the position is available to the successful applicant from April 2017.
The Nene Wetlands is supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund.
