This is an opportunity for an IT Support Engineer to join a small IT management, support and hosted services (secure data backup, disaster recovery, hosted Exchange) company catering for the SME market with a highly personalised service. They provide confidential secure hassle free services so clients can concentrate on their businesses, while they ensure smooth operations.

Main responsibilities:

- IT help desk and on on-site support for clients quickly and efficiently and courteously.
- Support for the backup and disaster recovery services - monitoring, fixing, setting up, restoring.
- Maintaining the office infrastructure - servers, routers, switches, firewalls, PCs.
- Proactive maintenance and checking of clients' IT systems.
- Design and delivery of IT solutions for their clients including the installation and setup of a network, devices and software.
- Following up outstanding activities promptly.
- Answering phone calls.

Personal Skills:

- A warm and friendly but authoritative phone and interpersonal manner is essential for this job.
- An enquiring mind with excellent problem solving abilities
- Desire to improve and learn more all the time.
- Willing to get under desks and up ladders

Technical Skills and Experience:

- Experience in supporting current Microsoft Server and Desktop operating systems.
- Understanding and experience of key technologies such as DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, Group Policies.
- Knowledge and experience of networking - particularly vlans and routing
- Knowledge and experience of current versions of Microsoft Office with particular emphasis on Outlook.
- Office 365 migration and maintenance.
- Knowledge and experience of system security including setting up and maintaining firewalls and anti-virus software.
- Experience with virtualisation.
- Experience with VOIP telephony
- Ability to write simple scripts and use the command line.
- Knowledge and experience of Apple Macs.

Typical Qualifications:

A+, Network+, MOS, Working towards MCTS or MCSA - or similar
