Reporting directly to the General Manager you as the depot manager will ensure that all employees work safely and as effectively and efficiently as possible to provide the maximum profitability and levels of service within the depot. You will demonstrate good people management skills as well as a passion for delivering an exceptional service to our customers. Client Details My market leading distribution client with over 100 years' experience, prides itself in knowing their customers and understand that service matters. My client delivers thousands of items on a daily basis and take pride in the long standing relationships that have built with their customers in order to understand their needs and tailoring a service to fit. My client is fast growing and looking for a depot manager to report into the regional general manager based at their busy depot in Glasgow. Description Maintain the depot at all times ensuring that all legal, health and safety and Company policy requirements are strictly adhered to. Ensure all employees have the equipment, training and attire to enable them to carry out their duties effectively To ensure that the depot operates in line with legal requirements in relation to the DVSA and the parameters of our Operators licence Organising and controlling the depots collection and delivery operations ensuring all delivery timings are achieved, paying particular attention to premiums deliveries Organising and controlling the depot's resources to ensure maximum efficiency of the depot through effective management of people, assets, costs and productivity To ensure that all operational standards and procedures within the depot are carried out effectively Develop and implement plans to deliver all elements of the company objectives To ensure that all operational documentation and information is correctly recorded To deal with any customer complaints effectively To ensure that missing or damaged freight is investigated daily Work closely with the relevant business partners within the support functions to implement and drive policies, procedures and business initiatives To organise and manage the depots people plan, in particular recruitment and selection, holidays and absenteeism to ensure a cost effective and efficient operation Deputise for the General Manager when required Assumes ownership of meeting or exceeding personal daily targets, KPIs and objectives Responsible for the achievement of the profit of the depot through management of fleet and labour costs Proactively contributes towards the achievement of depot targets Develops a high performing, motivated, disciplined and positive team who are respected across the business Conducts 1 to 1 meetings Identifies and manages personal development needs Manages performance effectively, setting appropriate objectives, identifying issues and ensuring management processes are executed appropriately to achieve resolution Profile Reporting directly to the General Manager you will ensure that all employees work safely and as effectively and efficiently as possible to provide the maximum profitability and levels of service within the depot. You will demonstrate good people management skills as well as a passion for delivering an exceptional service to our customers. Your key responsibilities will be to maintain operational performance and provide effective leadership in the daily planning and running of the depot. Holds a Transport Manager CPC qualification Previous experience within the Parcel Freight industry preferable but not essential Management experience within a warehouse environment A track record of success in a leadership position within a fast paced environment Demonstrable background of success in meeting and exceeding targets and delivering an outstanding client experience Practical knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety regulations Possess good financial acumen Computer literate and comfortable in the use of technology and IT systems, including knowledge of MS Office People management and leadership experience including previous success with managing teams Comfortable, willing and able to lead by example and also adopt a practical hands-on approach when required Good communication skills including: Able to work at pace whilst maintaining an accurate, high quality output Highly organised with a well-developed approach to prioritisation Job Offer A competitive base salary plus fully expensed company car and bonus This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/75464335
