The Exchequer Services section within Financial Services oversees the Council’s income management, sundry debt management, creditor administration and payroll processes. The Council’s payments systems are currently undergoing significant changes with a view to modernisation, greater automation and efficiency and improving customer experiences.

We are seeking a highly motivated, organised and committed individual to fill the post of Exchequer Development Officer. The post-holder will support the Exchequer Services Manager in developing corporate payment procedures through a consultative approach across the Council which is supported by efficient and effective procedures and accurate data.

With a Level 4 (or higher) qualification and a commitment to Continuing Professional Development you should have a high Standard of IT literacy and extensive experience of financial systems. Having a positive ‘can do’ attitude and the ability to manage competing priorities you’ll take a leading role in the planned developments. You should also be a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to coach and mentor others to achieve shared goals for improvement.

The hours of work are 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday and will be based at Lancaster Town Hall.
