In the lively and competitive clearance market, Pricecheck has long established relationships with many major manufacturers and brand owners, sourcing quality product which we then sell on to a range of different outlets. We are traders – we buy and sell quality product, whilst understanding the market and getting to know exactly what our customers want. We buy thousands of product lines from hundreds of suppliers – we never know where the next deal will take us, making for a fast paced, ever changing and exciting place to work and we’re on the lookout for an export specialist to join our expanding team.
What you’ll be doing
Working as part of the wider Finance team and as an extension to our Customer Services team, our International Logistics team also work very closely with the Sales, Buying and Warehouse teams to ensure that we have the correct certification, legalities and transport to get our stock overseas in a timely fashion.
You will gain transport quotes, arrange shipments and produce the necessary documentation to ensure a commercial outcome for the business and the customer, whilst keeping up to date with legislation to ensure that we remain compliant. With a commercial mind, you will work with the Sales team to encourage/maximise
opportunities in terms of filling to full container capacity whilst monitoring stock levels and applying fairness and common sense.
On the flip side, you will also work with our Buying teams regarding to the import of goods and collections from our international suppliers. Pricecheck’s growth is largely fuelled by our focus on international trade and this is something that has been recognised through our award wins so far, so it is a busy and varied role to be in.
You will be a confident communicator, with a polite but tenacious telephone manner and the ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and customers. Your organised and considered approach will ensure that you remain calm under pressure whilst enjoying a fast paced and challenging role.
How you’ll do it
Following an in depth induction where you will spend time with all areas of the business, you will be working with the customer service team in getting to know our systems, processes and industry as part of your on the job training.
In order to succeed, you will be a confident user of standard and bespoke computer packages, being versatile and adaptable to juggle lots of ongoing activity and balance priorities well. You will work well independently, but recognise where assistance is required and have the confidence to ask questions, both internally and with our customers.
You will look for efficiencies assessing each situation on an individual basis, applying fair judgment and a common sense approach. Your analytical skills, numerical abilities and organised approach will mean that you will thrive in a busy workplace, involving yourself with the trading environment around you.
What we’re looking for
With so much going on, you need to be sharp, smart with an eagerness to learn. Degree level achievements and strong A level results (or the associated equivalent) would be desirable, but we look for more than just academic achievements of our team. Show us that you have entrepreneurial spirit, an interest in trading and a knowledge of export legislation - we would love to hear more from you.
You will have proven experience of working in a customer service or logistics type role. You must be able to operate at pace under pressure, whilst not sacrificing quality and accuracy. You will see the importance of attention to detail, yet awareness for the bigger picture and keen to see how finance works in business, not just
as a department in isolation.
As we trade internationally, we’re keen to hear from people who have language skills or experience of living and working overseas but these are not essential.
