An experienced Production Buyer with knowledge of procuring machine components is required for an initial 6-month contract. Based in Flintshire, this is the opportunity to work for an established manufacturing company. As Production Buyer your role will be to ensure both company and customer requirements are fulfilled, whilst taking the MRP output and negotiating best quality, price and delivery. Key responsibilities for the role of Production Buyer: Create purchase orders from electronic requisitions ensuring best price, delivery and quality Interrogate MRP output from systems and raise purchase orders aiming for best quality, price and delivery Action any date changes recommended from the weekly MRP output Ensure suppliers are coping with the company workload and that they have sufficient capacity to meet requirements Action any recommended order cancellations after questioning, once agreement and cost implication has been agreed with the supplier Process purchase requisitions for ad-hoc purchases in a timely manner Develop both existing and new suppliers to meet the demand for components Progress orders with suppliers to ensure they are meeting requested delivery dates Hold technical discussions with suppliers to identify and implement improvements in products and processes Establish and maintain purchasing contracts with suppliers Maintain close contact with supply base and monitor performance Implement purchasing initiatives to reduce total cost and improve performance against quantified objectives Further improve the supplier development programme Implement corrective actions from audit findings and drive the completion of associated tasks Work on cross functional teams to aid new product development Keep a record of savings achieved Key skills and competencies required for the role of Production Buyer: Experience of procuring machined components Knowledge of metal component manufacturing CIPS level 5 qualification or a degree in business or an engineering related discipline Ability to make decisions, use initiative and carry out appropriate actions in line with the company policy and strategy Have experience working in a fast-moving environment and be able to demonstrate good time management and organisational skills Take a methodical approach to the job with good attention to detail when planning and carrying out tasks Have a conscientious, positive attitude to quality and workmanship Possess good IT skills Be able to communication well at all levels Ability to represent the company externally in a highly professional and credible manner Be keen to learn new things quickly and have an interest in career development and training within the workplace Fixed term contract – 6 months initially Location: Flint Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday Salary: circa £30,000 - £33,000 pro rata, dependent on experience At Letterbox Recruiting, it is part of our process to meet with every candidate face to face for an internal registration interview.
