Job Purpose and Scope Provide an efficient delivery, collection, unpacking and installation service, which includes overnight stays, to Furniture Resource Centre customers across the UK whilst providing professional, friendly and courteous customer service Take responsibility for ensuring all deliveries are completed to required schedule whilst observing all legal and company requirements. To work as part of a team under the supervision of the assigned Lead Driver. Duties and Responsibilities Drive vehicles for which you hold a current driving licence for in a safe, lawful and efficient manner to the standard of the appropriate Department of Transport driving test. Deliver, unpack and place in situ furniture, white goods and any other items offered by Furniture Resource Centre. Assemble and affix furniture, measure and fit window coverings, measure for carpets and install and connect electrical items. Collect, uninstall and dismantle used goods for return to FRC warehouse. Communicate with customers about the time of deliveries by ensuring that pre-delivery telephone calls are made in all instances, post failed delivery cards in all instances when access is not available and to a ct professionally and helpfully to safeguard, maintain and foster good customer relations. Take full responsibility and be accountable for deliveries, checking the safety and security of the vehicle load before leaving the warehouse and also periodically throughout the day, completing a daily vehicle check and associated paperwork every day and reporting defects immediately to your supervisor. Aid and assist the warehouse team in the loading and unloading of vehicles. Attend post delivery meetings and e nsure all relevant paperwork is completed and returned as instructed by your supervisor and in accordance with the agreed timescales. · Use and safeguard all items issued by the company (inc. fuel cards, tools, vehicle keys, mobile phones, sat-nav). Be responsible for the security of tools issued by the company, ensuring that all required tools are available during working hours and defects reported immediately to your supervisor. Provide help, support and advice to staff on training contracts, to placements and to agency staff acting as mentor and setting the example of good working practices. · Adhere to the Drivers’ Hours and Working Time Directive Legislation at all times and to produce tachograph records on a weekly basis or upon request. · Carry out responsibilities as described in the FRC Group Health and Safety Policy, ensuring that activities are carried out in a way that is safe and without risk to health to yourself or others. Undertake any other work appropriate to the job as directed by your supervisor or training deemed necessary by the company to include carrying out warehouse duties and attending refresher training courses which may take place at weekends. To act, when required, as a member of a delivery crew under the instruction of an assigned ‘lead person’ providing willing support and advice to enable successful completion of deliveries. Attend all meetings as requested by your supervisor, unless with prior arrangement of absence, including monthly group communications meetings. Decision Making Authority · You are required to clear any issues relating to policy with your supervisor. You are also required to obtain clearance for any expenditure not in line with agreed budgets. Essential · A full valid LGV Class II License with a developed experience in related work · Experienced in completing paperwork in an accurate and timely manner · The ability to lift and carry heavy objects in accordance with the Moving and Handling Regulations (training will be given) · Experienced in using tachographs and an understanding of Driver’s working time regulations · A working knowledge of Health and Safety issues · Experienced in map reading · Has DIY and practical skills · Basic numeracy and literacy skills · A commitment to providing an excellent service to internal and external customers · A positive attitude to work · Ability to take responsibility and give instructions as well as a willingness to work under instruction · Proven ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team · A commitment to and willingness to adhere to the Equal Opportunities Policy · A proactive problem solver · A flexible approach to working hours which may include early starts and late finishes.
