Temporary Student Engagement Officer
We require a temporary Student Engagement Officer (SEO) to support a cohort of students through the pastoral system. The role of the SEO is to promote high levels of student engagement and progress across programmes of study. SEOs monitor student progress relative to individual starting points in order to enhance and maxmise student outcomes and progression opportunities. Each SEO is also responsible for monitoring and ensuring appropriate interventions are in place for a distinct cohort of students, e.g free college meals, to secure positive outcomes and progression.
As a SEO you will proactively liaise with teachers and other team members as required through the intervention system. You are also required to refer students to the next appropriate stage / Wellbeing Team in a timely fashion as appropriate.
The successful candidate will have experience of working with 16-19 year old students in a pastoral / support capacity. Ability to work and motivate students using a student centred approach to work across all levels and monitor attendance is essential.
Relevant experience is essential and it is critical that you have acheived GCSE or their equivalent in English and Maths. You will need to be reliable, demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills, have an understanding of the need to maintain boundaries and confidentiality with students and the ability to work with sensitivity and humour.
The successful candidate will be issued with an iPad mini to assist them with their dtuies and will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check.
This is a temporary post, for up to one year to cover the maternity absence of a member of staff, ideally to commence on 19th February 2018. The hours of work are 37 per week, term-time only, to be worked Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.30 am to 5.00 pm, with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break. The exact hours will be agreed with the successful candidate. The salary is set on the Support staff pay spine, 20-25, £15,045 - £17,389 per annum.
