ELG Carbon Fibre Limited (ELGCF) is a wholly owned UK subsidiary of ELG Haniel Group, headquartered in Duisburg, Germany. ELG is one of the world’s leading specialists in handling and recycling high-value raw materials for the stainless steel, superalloys and carbon fibre industries.
The goal of ELGCF is to facilitate the use of carbon fibre in emerging, high volume applications, by converting manufacturing waste and end-of-life components into cost effective, carbon fibre structural materials for the plastic compounding and composites industries.
We make no secret of our global expansion plans which include the launch of additional overseas facilities and with this in mind, we are looking for an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our committed team.
Maintenance Fitter
General Description / Purpose of Role:
This role involves responsibility for carrying out general maintenance of the plant, equipment and premises.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Maintenance of all Company equipment and machinery under the direction and
    management of the Production Manager;
  • Prioritise and handle breakdown repairs and execute planned maintenance activities on
    the process plant;
  • Install new equipment when necessary
  • Identify and organise first line mechanical spares/consumables, for critical plant &
  • Assist the Electrical/Mechanical Engineers in analysing breakdowns and identifying
  • Undertake maintenance work as required;
  • Ensure quality standards are adhered to and met at all times;
  • Fully comply with Health & Safety legislation at all times;
  • Undertake continuous improvement as set out in ISO 9001:2008;

  • To fully comply with Health & Safety legislation at all times;
  • To be on call for breakdowns outside of contracted hours;
  • To maintain and update a log of all maintenance spares and parts;
  • To complete detailed reports of all job/work activities and to complete maintenance work
    requests in agreed timescales;
  • Flexible approach to working shift patterns, weekends and overtime as and when
    required to meet the needs of the business;
    Occasional travel may be required.
    Minimum Education Qualifications:
• HNC or CNC qualification would be advantageous;
Minimum Previous Experience:
• 5 years proven experience of working in a maintenance role within an industrial/manufacturing environment;
Minimum Additional Training:
  • Experience of pneumatic/hydraulic plant and machinery essential;
  • Cherry picker, scissor lift and FLT experience advantageous;
  • Welding and fabrication experience beneficial;
  • Able to work at height.

    • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to work well with colleagues and external contractors/suppliers;
    • Excellent project planning and execution skills—demonstrated ability to deliver complicated projects and tasks on time;
    • Excellent team working skills. Ability to lead cross-functional teams;
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills—ability to provide clear and concise
      reports as required;
    • Good organizational skills;
    • Fully computer literate.
