Our depot in Berwick-Upon-Tweed specialises in the recovery from waste of products such as mercury, nickel, copper, tin and catalyst looking for a laboratory chemist.
The Role of Laboratory Chemist
Based in the beautiful area of Berwick-upon-Tweed, with its lovely beaches and riverside walks, a rare opportunity has arisen at the site for a Laboratory Chemist. You will be responsible for sampling and analysis of waste streams and site products, ensuring everything is handled in strict compliance with Environment Agency regulations and site permits. As well as compliance, safety is a key element of the role of the Laboratory Chemist and you will be responsible for ensuring safe handling and storage of all chemicals and waste streams. You will work closely with the Site Chemists and Site Supervisor to ensure throughput of waste in a compliant and safe manner. You will also be responsible for KPI reporting to the General Manager.
To apply for the role of Laboratory Chemist you must have a degree in Chemistry. Experience in the waste industry is desirable but you will be provided with full training. You should be commercially aware but also understand that compliance with strict EA and safety rules is paramount. You will need a high level of computer literacy using Microsoft applications especially Excel, Word and Outlook.
