Reporting to Senior / Junior Coordinators
£7.50 – £9.00 (depending on experience)
To be available from beginning of March 2018 with a programme of training, induction, visiting other Youth Zones in the network and pre-opening events.
A unique opportunity for experienced Youth Workers to assist in the delivery of the youth work programmes at Inspire Chorley Youth Zone, a new charity which is part of a network of hugely successful Youth Zones, with a state-of-the-art building offering a wide range of activities and targeted services for young people.
Chorley Youth Zone is under construction and is due to open in April 2018. Attracting young people from across the borough and beyond through its fantastic facilities, the Youth Zone is a registered charity and will provide positive activities and practical support, with the aim of enabling young people to make constructive use of their leisure time and raise their aspirations. The Youth Zone will be open seven nights a week, at weekends and during school holidays.
Our youth workers will be responsible for the delivery of the youth work programme at Inspire, Chorley Youth Zone, ensuring all young people attending the Youth Zone access fun, creative, active and developmental programmes. They will provide direct leadership and support to young people and actively work alongside volunteers and all other staff at Inspire.
We are looking for a range of youth workers with multiple skills, both universal activity based and targeted, support based who are also passionate about working with young people. You will have experience in one of more of the following:
Youth Workers (Senior & Junior) - Various hours available
Recreation Area (Activities) – 11 posts (between 6 and 17 hours per week)
Targeted Youth Worker – Young Women) - 3 posts (1 x 12 hrs, 1 x 10 hrs, 1 x 6 hrs)
Enterprise – 1 post – (1 x 12hrs)
Each role will ensure that there is an exceptionally high-quality offer focused on the needs of young people and in line with Inspire’s aspirations to provide young people with the best possible experiences and opportunities. You will be responsible for the continuous improvement of the delivery and inputting towards the strategic delivery plan for Inspire.
With substantial experience of youth work, you will:
- have successfully assisted delivery of services, possibly in challenging circumstances
- have a passion for supporting young people
- hold a professional qualification in youth work or equivalent skills and competence.
- have experience of programming a diverse range of activities for young people with good organisational skills
- be able to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities, with a considered and decisive approach, and strong interpersonal skills
