WORKING HOURS: 37 hours per week term time only

As part of an exciting time of development, our client is looking for Performing Arts Technician / Teaching Assistant to join their friendly team.

THE ROLE: We are seeking to appoint a Performing Arts Technician / Teaching Assistant to support the performing arts teaching staff and students at the school. There are two music teachers at the school and three drama staff.

As a ‘Good’ school with an ‘Outstanding’ Sixth Form, staff and students at the school enjoy some of the very best facilities available in the country. Our client’s associate staff are incredibly valuable to them and the Performing Arts Technician / Teaching Assistant will be integral to their continued success, playing a key role in both the Performing Arts department and the school.

Key Responsibilities of a Performing Arts Technician / Teaching Assistant to include:-

Provide a full range of support dependent on the needs of the performing arts department.
Ensuring that all technical equipment is functioning and prepared for lessons when required.
Preparing appropriate resources to use in Music/Music technology lessons.
Resolve technical issues when they arise and/or liaise with appropriate personnel to solve the issue.
Assist in running the music technology units for GCSE music as well as on occasion assisting in music lessons.
Experience in Sound Engineering Live Events as well as operating lighting systems.
Working with notation software, preferably Sibelius
Maintaining and organising all coursework for the performing arts department and preparation for external examinations – including bouncing performances/compositions and converting and editing video footage.
Instrument maintenance (knowledge of basic electronics to mend guitars, microphones and headphones etc).
Provide the administration for the instrumental lessons for all students across the school as well as after school ensembles.
Run the music technology enrichment club as well as assisting with GCSE music intervention after school.
To use the school’s BfL system, following guidance from classroom teachers and the Head of Department / subject.
To engage positively and enthusiastically with students, no matter what their difficulty, in order to support them to achieve.
To reward positive attitude, work and progress using the school’s VIVO reward scheme.
Occasional after hours working for after school events.

THE CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate will possess a degree in music technology or equivalent level of experience and GCSE pass in Maths and English – Grade C or above (or equivalent).
