Great things are happening in our science department right now. But we need your fresh perspective and exciting new ideas to take the development to the next level. Key to your success will be your ability to lead a team to provide an excellent learning experience for students across all subjects. As well as the core A Level courses in biology, chemistry and physics, these include BTEC programmes in Applied Science and Engineering. We also work closely with the Ogden Trust and are beginning an exciting project with the Institute of Physics.

You’ll be taking your career to the next level too as you drive initiatives to share best practice, enhance student success and develop the performance of your team. It’s your opportunity to shape the direction of science teaching – and inspire everyone around you to excel within a collaborative and supportive culture. Experience of teaching and developing curricula in a science subject is a must.  Being an outstanding teacher yourself is more important than post-16 experience.

With a dedicated, high-performing teaching team and state-of-the-art facilities, we’re proud to be rated Outstanding by Ofsted. As the first sixth form college to be awarded Teaching School status, we have also been recognised as a Mathematics Lead Teaching School, supported by the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM). Our Teaching School has OFSTED outstanding School-centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) provision and is a national benchmark for ITT and our Academy Trust comprises of four secondary and four primary schools, so you may also have the opportunity to influence local science teaching as we support local teaching developments.

With your track record in developing and improving curricula, you’ll have plenty of scope to lead new initiatives and secure quality improvements. We are in an exceptional location on the Lancashire border, not far from the Ribble Valley, Lake District and stunning Fylde coast. The vibrant cities of Manchester and Liverpool are both within easy reach.  

Salary will be dependant on years of teaching experience based upon the 6th Form
College’s pay scale , this position will also receive a responsibility allowance. The responsibility allowance scale may be adjusted and increased for an outstanding candidate.
