Production Manager - CNC Permanent Peterborough Job Description: This key role within the CNC Machine Shop Department of a well-established and successful Engineering Company is to provide effective timely technical support for the production of new and existing products. Planning and providing process and manufacturing engineering expertise into new customer parts and processing / manufacturing methods, ensuring a smooth transition from trial to full manufacture and managing staff within the department to ensure productivity and quality levels remain maximised. Reporting to the Managing Director, the Production Manager will have interface with Sales and Quality departments. Job Requirements: Production scheduling of the machine shop Working with the Machine Shop Team Leader Composing CNC programs for Lathes, Millers and Machining Centres according to job specifications Planning all elements of the production process through conception to completion Ensuring all pre-production activities are undertaken, including creation of CAD drawings, writing and input of machine programs, identification of all tooling requirements, and the design of fixtures are completed effectively and in a timely manner to support production plans Participating in feasibility reviews for new parts to evaluate and determine manufacturing methods required and ensure that the customer is aware of any exceptions or design changes that will be required prior to quotation Driving improvements in production processes using methodology developing methods and processes Liaising with Quality Control teams to ensure all products produced are meeting customer and company requirements required Delivering technical training to production operators to develop their skills and capabilities and increase productivity levels and maximising profit where possible Supervising & management of staff with the department to include appraisals, training, shift rotas, temporary staffing cover for holidays and sickness etc. Candidates will ideally require the following: HND / HNC Engineering Qualification or a Mechanical Engineering Machining based Apprenticeship Familiarity with CNC machine programming, particularly in using Fanuc & Heidenhein programming languages Use of One CNC and solid works an advantage.
