If you apply to this advert and are successful through the recruitment process you will be committed to working in the Essex Locality area.

Successful individuals will undertake up to 18 weeks of initial training and supervision in front line Ambulance Operations. This will include a four week emergency driving course. In return, students are given the opportunity to develop their skills, knowledge and aptitude as a clinician and are supported to develop academically, vocationally and operationally.

The course will include:

  • Classroom based learning
  • Self-study
  • Online learning
  • Practical simulation
  • Range of written and practical assessments
  • Portfolio of evidence
  • Clinical placement time with EEAST.

It is anticipated that the full course will be completed in 12 – 18 months from start date of employment.

Following successful completion of the full course, a portfolio, and operational duties, candidates will be awarded a Level 4 qualification against the Qualifications Credit Framework (QCF). Upon successful completion of the AAP programme, this qualification can be used against career development pathways, should applicants wish to apply for student paramedic in the future.

Applicants must be mobile, willing to travel, and will be expected to attend the Trust Education Centres and operational placements, when and where required. There is no provision for accommodation or travel expenses. If applying to this advert applicants must be willing and able to work in the Essex locality area.

Essential Requirements:

Evidence a minimum of 5 GCSEs of grade C or above of which two must be:

  • Maths
  • English
  • Science

Alternative equivalent and relevant qualifications may be accepted.

Be able to demonstrate a high degree of physical fitness by successfully meeting our fitness assessment standards and work health assessment check.

Own transport, and a full UK manual vehicle driving licence with one year driving experience (on a full UK licence). Please note a maximum of 3 points will be considered for a minor motoring offence only.

Category C1 (manual vehicle) on your driving licence is essential in order to start on the AAP programme. Applicants without Provisional or Full C1 who are successful in the recruitment and selection process will be required to obtain Provisional C1 before being allocated to a training course, and must achieve FULL C1 before you begin a training course. You will not start your employment with the Trust without full C1 on your licence.
