The CAD Technician role requires the successful candidate to interpret design information and produce layout drawings, relevant calculations and material schedules to enable the manufacture and installation of metal decking and associated products on contracts undertaken by the Company. 
  • To prepare general arrangement drawings detailing the type and extent of profiled metal deck and associated materials to be used.  All detailing to be carried out in accordance with Drawing Office Manual and Procedures.
  • Liaison with Client/Architect/Engineer to ensure all requirements are accurately detailed on the drawings and reflected on the material schedules.
  • The preparation of material schedules for manfacture based on the approved general arrangement drawings.
  • All documentation including material call-offs to be issued to achieve the client’s construction programme to ensure materials are delivered to site at the required time.
  • Preparation of composite slab and metal decking calculations in accordance with BS5950 and/or Eurocode 4 (where applicable) for on-going Contracts – using the in-house programmed software.
  • Liaison with all relevant suppliers to ensure effective delivery on all contracts.
  • Checking drawings and schedules of other CAD Technicians in accordance with Drawing Office Procedures.
  • When required, assist the Drawing Office Manager and Senior CAD Technicians with management of, and Design co-ordination on behalf of, sub-contractors and/or designated members of the Indian Drawing Office.  Including pre-issue drawing checks, chasing information, addressing queries and resolving issues.
  • When required, assist Sernior CAD Technicians with ‘on the job’ training of Trainees within the Drawing Office.
  • Supporting the technical department in dealing with technical/design queries from Clients, Engineers and Architects both through telecommunication, email and face to face design meetings (as necessary), using existing company knowledge resources or undertaking appropriate research to address any knowledge gaps.
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of the companies’ products by reading any material provided by the company or outside organisations.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Clients, co-workers, site installation teams and managers, to resolve any queries/issues encountered on site.
  • Maintain consistent and professional attendance punctuality, personal appearance, and always adhere to relelvant CDM and Health & Safety procedures.
  • Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role.
  • Comply with specific and general requirements of all Company policies, including, but not liminted to the Health & Safety, Environmental, Equal Opportunities, Ethical Trading and Sustainability Policies.

CAD Technician Essential Requirements:

  • 5 GCSE’s grade A-C
  • SCI Course in Composite Design
  • Excellent IT Skills in MS Office, FileMaker, AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat and Asta Powerproject
  • Strong organisational skills including project related paperwork, project management and time management
  • Excellent communication skills and flexible proactive attitude
  • Ability to review 3D models and identify any design related issues
