We are currently recruiting for a Science Park that provides around 16,000 sq ft of high quality offices and laboratories for a wider group, that is a world leader in animal health and diseases of farm livestock. The Park was developed between 1994 and 1999 and is set in an attractive rural location but only minutes from the Edinburgh City By-pass and other main transport links. The Park provides excellent facilities and services to enable all site tenants to carry out their work effectively.

A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Facilities Manager with a focus in providing a well-managed, proactive service to maintain 24 hour operation which is critical for the site in Penicuik. Reporting to the Park Manager, the Facilities Manager is responsible for organising and overseeing the on-site team of 6 maintenance engineers and for managing all aspects of engaging with numerous third party service contractors.

Main duties as Facilities Manager at Penicuik to include:
  • Deliver effective service levels and act as Property Management representative towards internal clients, tenants and external contractors.
  • Plan and organise the Planned Maintenance for the Park.
  • Provision of effective response to emergency situations, including out of hours.
  • Ensure Health & Safety, Duty of Care and Environmental Management obligations are met and carried out under the Quality systems.
  • Monitoring of inspection and audit requirements.
  • Ensure accurate records are maintained on the various electronic and manual systems.
  • Costing of work and financial controls.

The ideal candidate for this role will be an experienced Facilities Manager with experience managing a team. Other essential criteria:
  • Ability to operate and maintain the Park Building Management Systems and Preventative Planned Maintenance systems
  • Health and Safety and Environmental Management
  • Adherence to Quality systems
  • Experience in HVAC, Steam, Heating, Cold water systems and Building fabric maintenance.
