JOB TITLE: Maintenance Engineer/ Technician( Hospital)

Circa £26K

WORKING HOURS: 8an-4pm-Monday to Friday (flexibility maybe required on occasions to cover on call)

THE COMPANY:  Our client based in Banbury, Oxfordshire is an acute care hospital that has 12 beds, 1 operating theatre, an endoscopy suite and supporting services including Pre-admission, Imaging, Physiotherapy and Outpatients. Consultants, patients, relatives, staff, visitors and insurers are all considered to be customers of the Hospital and they strive to meet and exceed expectations of all their customers.

Role Purpose:- Maintenance Engineer/ Technician Hospital)- Banbury, Oxfordshire
  • The provision of Engineering Maintenance and breakdown support
  • Provide competent Technical, Health, Safety and Environmental support & assistance
  • To liaise closely with all other departments within the hospital.

Core Responsibilities:- Maintenance Engineer/ Technician( Hospital)Banbury, Oxfordshire

  • To review and manage the Engineering Planned Preventative Maintenance Routine
  • Respond to reactive calls in a timely manner.
  • Manage the hospital maintenance faults log in accordance to the priority as stated in the hospital policy in order to reduce risk to the business.
  • To facilitate the regular maintenance and servicing of specialist equipment by existing nominated companies.
  • To provide the hospital Manager and hospital staff with a list of contact details for service providers out of hours and cover when on annual leave or sick leave
  • Escalate reactive calls which require specialist involvement to resolve
  • Ensure that the site is safe and working effectively by maintaining Health & Safety requirements
  • Respond effectively and timely to ad-hoc requirements
  • Provide advice on technical and compliance issues affecting the site
  • Provide technical input as required on equipment purchase
  • Feedback on findings to enable a continuous improvements of planned Maintenance & Maintenance Techniques.
  • Carry out Portable Appliance Testing (PAT Testing) as required for all portable equipment used throughout the hospital at intervals defined by both policy and Risk assessment
  • To liaise with contractors prior to commencement of work to ensure that all necessary riskassessments, method statements and liability insurance documents are in place.
  • Prioritisation of breakdown against planned maintenance.
  • Priority of daily Planned Preventative Maintenance
  • Working inside company standards and guidelines
  • Attend to call-out request when applicable.
  • Follow the Healthcare HTM Standards where applicable.

Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications:-Maintenance Engineer/ Technician Hospital)- Banbury, Oxfordshire
  • Experience in a Maintenance Environment post apprenticeship or qualification gained(City& Guilds, ONC, NVQ Level 2 or equivalent preferably in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering)
  • Experience in managing and co-ordinating Contractors and Service Engineers
  • Fire safety or Fire Risk Assessment training desirable
  • Understanding of Quality Management, customer satisfaction and the continuous improvement process
  • Basic understanding of Health and Safety guidelines and applicable law
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated high level of organisation & time management skills, particularly in an environment with multiple, and sometimes conflicting priorities
  • Sound fault finding techniques
