JOB TITLE: Bookings & Administration Officer

SALARY & BENEFITS: Dependent on previous skills & experience 

WORKING HOURS: Full Time – Monday to Friday

THE COMPANY: Set in the heart of the beautiful Peak District National Park, our client operates a historic country estate, with parts of the house dating from the 12th century. Sitting like a jewel in its Elizabethan terraced gardens, and overlooking the River Wye the house and grounds have played host to numerous televisions and film productions. An exciting opportunity has now arisen for a Bookings & Administration Officer to join our clients existing friendly team.

THE ROLE: The successful candidate for the Bookings & Administration Officer will be responsible for focusing on group visits, tours and school trips to the Estate. The position also involves supervising the front of house staff, operating the Estate Office switchboard and responding to general enquiries by phone and email.

Key Responsibilities for the Bookings & Administration Officer role in Bakewell, Derbyshire include:
  • Be the first contact for, and liaise with groups and schools in person, handle any general incoming calls/enquiries and update booking forms
  • Coordinating the Education Team with the development of school visits to the hall, and the offer of activities to children who visit during the general admission
  • Managing the EPOS (Electronic Point of Sale) system and updating the online calendar and staff diary and rotas, as well as issuing invoices for payment for visits
  • Sending images to those who request them for advertisement purposes and forwarding advert enquiries to the Marketing Consultant
  • Contact new travel trade companies, private groups and schools with the latest information about events
  • Aiding the organisation and running of events with Event Manager as and when required
  • Assisting the accounts department with visitor financial matters
  • Supervising the front of house staff, operating the Estate Office switchboard and responding to general enquiries by phone and email.
THE CANDIDATE:  Our client is looking for a confident, organised and self-motivated individual, for the position of Bookings and Administration Officer. It is essential you have excellent customer service skills and have previous experience working in a customer service type role. You must have good IT skills and be familiar with using Microsoft packages such as Word and Excel. You should have experience in cash handling, organising or planning staff rotas and be someone who can take a flexible approach to your work.  The ability to work well under pressure, and an interest in heritage and tourism is essential

Key Experience/ Characteristics preferred for the Bookings & Administration Officer role in Bakewell, Derbyshire :-
  • Excellent customer service skills and previous experience working in a customer service role is essential
  • Must have an excellent telephone manner and experience speaking to customers over the phone
  • Must have good IT skills and experience using Microsoft Office
  • Must be an organised person who can plan and use his/her own initiative
  • Ability to work well under pressure, and an interest in heritage and tourism is essential
