WORKING HOURS: Full-time, Mon-Fri, 38 hrs per week

THE COMPANY: Our client is a successful college that delivers engineering excellence through innovative, technically-focused education and training for 14-19 year olds in Workington, on the west coast of Cumbria. The college has been created through a partnership between industry and education and with their curriculum grounded in traditional values, it provides a great foundation for students' futures. Our client now has a fantastic opportunity for a Business Director to join their team.

THE ROLE: Reporting directly to the Principal, the successful Business Director will be a key member of a small senior leadership team. You will be involved in managing Finance, HR, SIMS, premises, IT Systems, Catering and Admin and Support Staff. You will also be ensuring that you build positive relationships with staff, industry partners, contractors and students and will be involved with strategic planning, financial resource management, site and building management, catering, admin systems & support and day to day line management of support staff.

THE CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate for the Business Director position in Workington will have a proven track record of leadership of Academies Education Finance, HR and other aspects of education administration. You will have experience as a member of middle or senior management and will have previously delivered change management programmes. You will also have experience of having contributed towards policy and structure formulation, implementation, evaluation and review and have extensive successful experience of strategically leading school information management systems.

Key experience essential for the role:
  • Proven track record of leadership of Academies Education Finance, HR and other aspects of education administration
  • Previous experience as a member of middle or senior management
  • Experience of delivering change management programmes
  • Experience of having contributed towards policy and structure formulation, implementation, evaluation and review
  • Extensive successful experience of strategically leading school information management systems
  • Ability to work with internal and external partners
  • Ability to motivate staff
  • Hold a degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline
