JOB TITLE: Support Worker (Supportive living)

SALARY & BENEFITS: £16,457.09 p.a. - £18,522.60 p.a. pro rata for under 37 hrs
Allowances: Sleep in allowance of £35 per night and Waking Night enhancement of £15 per night, payable when worked
WORKING HOURS: Full and Part-Time hours up to 37 hrs per week (min of 16 hours per week)

THE COMPANY: Our client provides a service across Norfolk and Suffolk, supporting people with complex mental health problems, to help them lead an independent life of their choice.
Their services include a range of supported housing and community outreach support in Ipswich, West Suffolk and Norfolk, available to people in receipt of secondary mental health services.

THE ROLE: Support Worker (Supportive living) - Bury St Edmunds-Suffolk
My client has a range of opportunities available for people at our 24/7 supported living service in Bury St Edmunds.
You will be part of a team who provide on-site support for adults with mental health issues. They support people to identify and use their strengths to help manage the things in life they find difficult and thereby promote recovery and independence.
They provide staffing round the clock, 7 days a week. At night there is one person providing waking night cover and another person providing sleep in support at the service.
Whilst many of their staff are full time and cover a variety of shifts including, weekends, evenings and sleep ins on a rota, there is also scope for people to work part time hours and shifts which fit around their other commitments, 48% of the workforce work part time hours.
My client is looking for people who can commit to at least 16 hours per week and can offer part time or full time contracts as well as options such as floor and ceiling contracts and annualised hours.
Shifts available- Support Worker (Supportive living)- Bury St Edmunds-Suffolk
07.30 – 15.30 /09.00-17.00/ 11.00-19.00 /14.00 – 20.00 followed by a sleep in and finishing at 08.00 am the following day (this attracts a payment of £35 in addition to the hourly rate for the period between 14.00 and 20.00)
Waking night – 21.45 – 07.45 the following day (this attracts and additional payment of £15 in addition to the payment for working hours)
Key skills and experience required:-

  • Flexibility and commitment to work shifts on a rota basis essential
  • No previous care/support experience is required although is an advantage
  • although not essential, Health & Social care qualifications or equivalent would be advantageous
  • Empathy, caring and sensitivity to the needs of others
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Driving licence and access to a vehicle desirable but not essential
  • An enhanced DBS is required for this role
