JOB TITLE: Live in Care Support Worker

SALARY & BENEFITS: £89.00 per day (with 4 hours break). Job share will be considered e.g 2 weeks in 4 - 28 days per annum pro rata

As a Live in Care Support Worker you will support our client as and when they need it, and live your life alongside them. You will prepare and assist with meals, washing and dressing, assist with personal care and escort them on trips out.

Key Responsibilities of a Live in Care Support Worker to include:-

• Supporting people with activities outside their home, for example community activities, shopping or attending medical appointments.
• Supporting people at home with all aspects of the care they need to live safely and as independently as possible in their own homes. 
• Assisting with personal hygiene e.g. oral care, helping people to shower or go to the toilet.
• Assisting with dressing, choice of clothes and personal appearance.
• Preparing meals and drinks and providing assistance with eating / drinking. 
• Supporting people with their health and welfare needs, including administration of medication. 
• Assisting with mobility, including use of wheelchairs, hoists etc. 
• Assisting with a therapeutic programme designed by a medical professional and/or supporting people to gain new skills or maintain their current abilities. 
• Providing emotional support, reassurance, companionship and a safe environment for those benefitting from care and support. 
• Carrying out basic first aid and summoning emergency services if required. 
• Reporting any concerns about abuse or the welfare or safety of any adult or child to a manager / nominated person, and highlighting any changes in circumstances to a manager.
• Undertaking specialised tasks as agreed and after appropriate training e.g. PEG feeding.
• Providing support with organised or informal group activities.
• Cleaning and maintaining the home and its contents.
• Looking after pets (subject to agreement with your manager).

This list is not exhaustive and you may be asked to carry out other duties as per client's care plan or management instruction.

THE CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate must be able to develop good working relationships with carers and people with care needs while maintaining appropriate personal boundaries.
You will work independently and take initiative while working within our client's
policies, procedures, guidance. You will be able to demonstrate care and respect for vulnerable adults and children. The successful Live in Care Support Worker will also be able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.

Key experience essential for the role of Live in Care Support Worker based in Milton Keynes:

• Must live within a commutable distance of Milton Keynes.
• Must have a full UK driving licence with access to transport is desirable.
• Will be computer literate.
• Previous experience working in a similar role or environment.
• A Health and Social Care NVQ/Diploma Level 2 or 3 or Care Certificate is desirable however our client will consider applications from candidates who can commit to completing the Care Certificate within 12 weeks of commencing employment – you will be supported in this by the charity.
