Powertrain control systems engineer/applications engineer; Performance, economy and emissions - Peterborough to £55K DOE

I am seeking a number of engineers at junior, senior, principal and specialist level for this international powertrain manufacturer. The company offers training and career development opportunities that are second to none. You will be working as a permanent member of staff in the highly technical area of powertrain systems / applications engineering within the sphere of performance, emissions and economy. Working in a likeminded team you will be responsible for taking customer requirements/enquiries and converting them into a workable technical solution via a specification to the component teams. Once this is done, you will be responsible for designing and conducting validation tests to ensure your initial requirements are met

What you will do:

- the department covers all aspects covering P&E; eg controls, after treatment, turbos, engine capacity etc. You will work closely with customers on their new product requirements.

- taking initial customer briefs and interpreting what is actually required in order to define a system that meets the requirement.

- produce block/system diagrams where necessary, verbal instructions to the component teams

- conduct whole system simulations on matlab or other proprietary software to ensure proposed technical solution can meet requirements

- once component teams have designed appropriate components; the systems engineer is responsible for system validation both in field and on bench

- prepare and maintain project plans to ensure customer timings are met

What you will need

- a good degree, masters or PhD

- good technical understanding of either an engine as a whole OR a specific major component or subsystem eg after treatment, engine controls, boost, engine calibration etc that contributes to P&E

- understanding of the factors that affect combustion/power/economy

- some experience of matlab would be useful as would knowledge of control systems or MBD

- be able to demonstrate previous data analysis, simulation etc

- must be a confident communicator and capable in front of customers

- be eligible to work in the UK without visa assistance

- some experience of diesel
