Position: Electrical Engineer

Location: Ellesmere Port

Salary: £36,000p/a + Benefits

Hours of Work: 6am-2pm -2pm-10pm & 10pm-6am

Overall Job Objective

To work as part of a multi-disciplined shift team to maintain the assets within the site, both primary production and site services. To optimise the utilisation of the equipment and to deliver maximum volume at the right quality. Working closely with the Managers/ Key Ops, to provide a quick and effective response to line breakdowns. To carry out preventative and predictive maintenance tasks required to deliver reliable and predictable performance. To support projects, new installations and continuous improvement initiatives.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:


- To work on equipment safely following all Review, update and carry out Task and Dynamic Risk Assessments, and support the development of Safe Systems of Work.
- Adherence to all safety requirements, report and rectify hazards, and challenge unsafe behaviour where necessary.


- Ensure quality is maintained by operating to the highest engineering standards
- Standard Setting - always wear the correct uniform and PPE.


- To carry out maintenance duties to support production, either planned or in support of breakdowns, improvements or commissioning.
- To use the system to report work done, raise new work requests and contribute to the overall effectiveness by assisting in planning.


- To work flexibly to support colleagues within both engineering and other departments.
- To participate in training and to train others including apprentices.
- Carryout shift handovers with other Engineers, Team Leaders and Engineering Manager.

Continuous Improvement

- To be actively involved in and support continuous improvement activities eg. Kaizen, 5 Why, 5S.
- Seek opportunities to identify improvement initiatives and challenge the status quo.
- Attend any improvement meetings as required.


- Operate with cost in mind to optimise parts lifecycles and reduce un-necessary spend.

Education & Experience

- Qualified to ONC or equivalent level.
- Indentured engineering apprenticeship

- Minimum of 5 years industrial experience, of which 2 years must have been in a "Trouble Shooting Role"

- Minimum 17th edition wiring regs and PLC experience.
