The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has completed its second year as a newly created organisation that promotes competition and makes markets work well for consumers, businesses and the economy. Over the last two years we have delivered a number of successful outcomes as our work continues to benefit the lives of everyone in the UK. Joining us now, at the beginning of our next phase of transformation, will offer uniquely exciting professional opportunities.

Better use of technology is a priority for us and we are committed to the government's 'Digital by Default' Service Standard. In practice this means we are investing in up-to-date and emerging digital solutions, so this role will present an experienced IT professional with the opportunity to work with the very latest in Microsoft technologies and to support the implementation of new ways of working. There is a strong project bias to the role (though there will be plenty of day-to-day support issues to manage too) and you can expect to be deeply immersed in initiatives such as SAN upgrades, disaster recovery systems, the roll out of unified communications devices and complex data security projects. We are committed to making innovative use of technology, balancing a secure environment with greater flexibility and accessibility.

If your extensive technical knowledge is complemented by a creative mind and a can-do approach to troubleshooting this is a role in which you can thrive. You should be able to analyse business needs quickly and make recommendations in relation to technical solutions- so marketplace insight is important and your natural passion for technology will ensure that your industry knowledge is up-to-date. It is important that your technical know-how is backed up by good all-round communication skills and that you can work well with both technical and non-technical colleagues. As you would expect, tried and tested project management skills, using recognised methodologies are required for this role. In terms of qualifications, we're looking for people who have, or are working towards, a MCSE or NCDS, or have ITIIL or Prince 2 experience or exposure.

This role offers real scope for professional development and will suit individuals who are driven and ambitious. You'll discover a working environment where there is real emphasis on working together to deliver to the very highest standards. All CMA staff enjoy generous benefits, including an excellent pension scheme, at least 25 days' leave (increasing to 30 over five years), favourable consideration of flexible working, and generous maternity/paternity leave provision. You can also take advantage of childcare vouchers, interest-free season ticket loans, a cycle to work scheme and our employee wellbeing programme. Full details of our terms and conditions are published alongside each vacancy on our website.
