Technical Manager / IT Manager / ITIL / Permanent / Solihull / West Midlands / £45,000

Well know and rapidly expanding client based in Solihull are looking for an experienced and passionate Technical IT Manager to join their Head Office Team. The Technical IT Manager will be responsible for the effective and cost-efficient operation of a number of datacentre and operations teams, balancing their workloads to ensure business priorities are met while safeguarding day-to-day performance of team members.

The successful candidate will also hold strategic development and budgetary responsibility for the teams within their remit and is responsible for ensuring that teams in different managerial lines work effectively together to deliver a harmonious whole.

The Technical IT Manager will be a point of escalation for end users, a focal point for project activity and the effective owner of the tools, hardware and software used to deliver the services within the team.

Key responsibilities:
*Provide and consolidate strategic input for all teams managed liaising with other Technical IT Managers, end users, third parties, architects and the Head of IT to develop department-wide strategy.
*Understand external offerings and current development direction of key players in the marketplace, especially current suppliers
*Build and maintain strategic relationships with key end users and third party providers
*Own the technology used to deliver service in the teams managed and act as first point of contact for license queries, upgrades, maintenance etc.
*Ensure compliance with core processes and procedures such as change control and incident logging.
*Drive resolution of incidents and problems, especially those with a security implication, and take proactive action to avoid occurrence or repeats.
*Ensure auditable adherence to DPA, ISO27001 and other applicable legislation and standards.
*Own the asset register, incident list, change plans, problem list, knowledge base, security action plan, network plan, hardware refresh and service plans.
*Ensure appropriate balance between project and day-to-day activities and manage team priorities.
*Manage the workload, priorities and budget for the teams managed.
*Perform all people-management related tasks (e.g.: 1-2-1s, objective setting, appraisals).
*Act as subject matter expert for projects where needed.
*Mentor and educate team members or trainees.
*Devise and provide supporting evidence for annual budget for areas managed.

Key skills and experience:
*People management skills, of both direct and indirect reports.
*Good written and verbal communication skills adequate to convey technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
*Ability to form and maintain effective working relationships with third party suppliers
*Knowledge of All ITIL documents pertaining to Problem, Incident, Change, Asset/Configuration, Performance/Capacity, ITSCM, SLM, IT Security, IT measurement, service reporting and Ongoing improvement processes.
*Strong background in Project Management.
*Data Protection Act and other applicable legislation.
*Sufficient technical skills to be able to perform effectively at a junior level in any team managed.
