Our client is a leading independent prep school educating girls and boys from 2 ½ to 13. Situated at West Horsley the School is rated excellent in all areas in recent school inspections. It is committed to providing a balanced curriculum which can develop each child's potential. A vacancy has arisen for a Primary Care / Healthcare Practitioner for an immediate start to work on a job-share basis. A suitably experienced candidate is therefore required to be responsible for the provision of the healthcare needs, pastoral care of the 475 pupils for 3 days per week during tern time plus two weeks per year half day attendance during the holidays. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic experienced and flexible individual to join their dedicated and friendly professional team. A competitive pro rata salary is on offer commensurate with this important role.Duties include:1. First Aid .Dealing with incidents/accidents involving pupils and/or staff .Recording and dealing with the day to day medication and recording in the 'Day Book' for all children seen in a day. Report to the Headmaster, Deputy Head and/or Bursar (or Head of the Junior Department) of any serious accident. .Being contactable when not in the Reception area/Medical room. .The smooth running of the medical room.2. Medication .Directing teaching/non-teaching staff in the administration of medication when necessary, i.e. school trips.3. Illness .Dealing appropriately with all the illness amongst pupils and staff. .Liaising with parents and staff.4. Accidents in School/Out of School .Ensuring that the 'Accident Record' book records accurate details of any accident and that the Headmaster and staff are informed. - 2 -5. Medical Supplies .Ordering medical supplies. .Safe and correct storage of all medical supplies. .Correct storage and labelling of pupils medicine. .Ensuring that all first aid bags/boxes are adequately supplied and stocked.6. Staff Training .Train staff in the use of Epipens, inhalers, diabetic blood tester kit, etc.7. Medical Records .Maintain and update medical information re pupils - ensure confidentiality. .The daily printing of lists of medical needs for children at away matches, daily visits to forest school and school trips. Organizing the relevant first aid bags with medication needed. .Checking and restocking termly all first aid bags/defibrillators on the school site. .Keeping a record of expiry dates on all Epipens and Inhalers. Chasing up replacements as required. .Keeping boards in teachers common room up to date with relevant medical information on children with health conditions. .Keeping kitchen informed of any children with allergies. .Liaising with Public Health England regarding Yearly flu vaccination programme. .Safe administration, storage and record keeping of daily medication needed.8. Reception Duties .Supporting the office staff with administration as required. This includes photocopying, meet and greet of current and prospective parents, taking telephone calls and messages, dealing with lost property, replying to emails and forwarding on to relevant members of staff, answering general queries and enquiries
