An exciting opportunity has been created for an Estimator to join a Regional Civil Engineering Contractor who resides in Hertfordshire. As an organisation they currently operate in a variety of sectors to include highways, rail, depots, & infrastructure As a company they offer solution through partnerships and joint ventures schemes with the highest quality organisations. Due to a number of successful tender wins they are in an enviable position with a healthy forward order book for the next 18 months plus. As a result they currently have a vacancy for an Estimator who could be bases in Hertfordshire. The main purpose of the role will be pricing tender opportunities by implementing estimating strategies on each bid and to manage the estimating process and procedures in bidding. Main Duties and Responsibilities: · Lead the Estimating team, including managing the workload and allocation of estimating resource · Undertake the role of Estimator on projects, where required · ·Responsible for the preparation and subsequent negotiation of Tender submissions for Civil Engineering projects · Examine incoming tenders and review contract potential · Measuring & ‘ Quantity Take-Off’ from drawings · Producing Bills Of Quantities · Produce tender report in preparation for tender adjudication · Hold adjudication/settlement meeting with Estimating & Operational Directors Due to the complexity of the projects you will need to have a background in working on rail infrastructure or civil engineering contracts with a minimum of an HNC in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management. Key Requirements: · Previous experience of managing the process of estimating projects, within civil engineering · Membership of a relevant professional body such as RICS/CIOB/RIBA/ICE/CIBSE · Good working knowledge of pricing and quantification methods · Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required, coupled with an ability to form effective relationships with partners under time pressure · Proficiency in IT, numeracy and MS Office Basic & Estimating Systems is essential About the benefits / rewards : The salary will be dependent on level of exposure to industry.
