MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE To work with Production & Mechanical Maintenance Team Leaders, the Maintenance Planner, and the Burton Engineering Manager to ensure that personnel, plant and spares are available in a timely manner to complete daily/weekly maintenance works. To co-ordinate and supervise the electrical team, contractors and maintenance activities on a daily and weekly basis to ensure the production plant meets the manufacturing targets. This includes: Effective communication and implementation of site rules Ensuring that the electrical team adheres to all health and safety, environmental and quality regulations Following safe working practices and procedures including timely reporting of accidents and emergencies; Have a clear strategy that is designed to minimize risk within the engineering department. This should be based on both pro-active and re-active elements. Coordination and completion of all actions raised through observations and other mechanisms in a timely manner Devise and implement training plans Ensure all electrical systems comply fully with statutory regulations Quality Ensure production complies with product specification and appearance acceptable to customer, responsible for electrical engineering works and schedule completion Leadership Demonstrate through action, strong leadership principles. Promote and foster team working. Operate with integrity at all times by doing the right thing. Set objectives for your team and coach/mentor them to achieve. Monitor performance of your team and deal promptly and effectively with any problems within your control and report those that cannot be resolved. Responsible for training, discipline and labour organisation of your team in accordance with company procedures Communication Carry out and maintain the effective communication requirements of the business. Be pro-active, promote and encourage participative communication across all functional areas. Develop and communicate the expectations of the department, and be able to communicate and drive the right behaviour in the line to meet delivery of targets. Operational Performance Apply continuous improvement techniques like “Practical Problem Solving” and Lean methodology to drive performance improvement. These should include; 8D analysis of breakdowns 8D completion rate Waste reduction Machine availability improvement Financial improvement through cost reduction or value creation. To achieve this the senior electrical engineer will liase with stores, quality and maintenance personnel to fully optimise production time and performance. Workplace Organization To use established principles (5S) to ensure that the workplace is organised in the most effective manner. This will include; Ensure that all direct reports are engaged in the process. Ensure that the electrical department complete all audits ie 5S and health and safety on time to schedule. Monitoring and challenging improvement plans to ensure progress is maintained. Standardization of owned areas at world class levels. Providing support and encouragement to the electrical team and act as a roadblock remover for them when help is required. Organize training for all electrical engineers Mentor the multi skilled apprentice Cost Control Responsible for efficient running of all plant and machinery. Responsibilities Work permits and contractor control Support the site energy champion & initiate energy saving initiatives organize and control all electrical projects to include plant modifications and improvements through capital expenditure Organize,plan and prioritize all electrical work on a daily basis through SAP To be responsible for the Archiving and backing up of all site electrical data, PLC programs, Drives, HMI’s, Critical computers and control systems Programming and modifications of all PLC programs for machinery and controls Fire alarm routine testing and arranging servicing across the whole site Electrical risk assessments (PUWER) and safe systems of work QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Previous experience in an FMCG environment at a supervisory level. Relevant electrical qualifications PLC proficient with Allan Bradley and Siemens A drive to develop people, processes and to deliver world class performance. Preferably IOSH or NEBOSH certified.
