Based in the Leeds office, this is a fantastic opportunity for a design orientated individual to join one of the most innovative companies in the UK marketplace. Job Purpose Provide a turnkey design service during the tender, pre-construction and post-planning phases of a wide variety of construction projects within the education, healthcare and commercial sectors, delivered using the latest offsite, modern methods of construction. Manage the inputs and outputs of technical drawing packages, planning applications and technical resources; chairing design team meetings', liaising with internal and external clients, end users and design consultants to ensure the process runs as smoothly as possible. Ensure full compliance with all relevant codes and standards including Building Regulations, Building Bulletins, Health Technical Memorandums and other associated publications. Reporting structure Line management report to Technical Director Liaising at all levels of the wider organisation from Directors to On site delivery teams. Main responsibilities -Assist on pre-construction activities and tender opportunities to control and interrogate the activities of external design consultants. Prepare technical responses for inclusion in -PQQ and tender submissions. -Manage the design process through RIBA Stage 2 Concept Design and Stage 3 Developed Design to handover with internal detail design team. -Provide collaborative approach with the internal detail design team through RIBA Stage 4 providing expert technical advice and maintaining consistent link to the end users, clients and statutory bodies. -Assume role of Principle Designer in accordance with requirements of Construction, Design and Management Regulations (CDM) 2015. Identify and manage risks identifying design solutions to eliminate, reduce or control risks during the construction and final operation of the building -Liaise with internal and external clients, end users, statutory bodies and design consultants to ensure smooth delivery of the project through all stages of design. Ensure effective collaboration with colleagues in a multi site environment. Support the Work Winning Team providing technical expertise and advice to internal and external clients Manage and as necessary author gateway submission documents and contractors proposals following client guidelines. Respond and close out submission clarifications Attend and where necessary chair client engagement and design team meetings arranging attendance for in house and consultant designers as required Manage submission of planning applications, liaising with all relevant bodies as required. Work with internal and external designers to discharge any planning conditions. Ensure full compliance with Building Regulations and associated statutory regulations such as Building Bulletins and Health Technical Memorandums. Provide information and support to achieve required project BREEAM rating. Create and manage design risk register, eliminating, reducing or controlling hazards and risk in accordance with CDM 2015. Co-ordinate design process, working with a variety of specialist consultants including but not limited to: o Structural Engineers. o Acoustician. o Carbon Consultants. o BREEAM Assessors. o Mechanical Designers. o Electrical Designers. o Architects. Develops mutually respectful working relationships with team members Work Experience: Experience in design and build contracts with specific knowledge of education, healthcare and commercial buildings Working knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations Expert knowledge of Building Regulations, Building Bulletins and Health Technical Memorandums Working knowledge of working with BREEAM with demonstrable evidence of achieving Very Good and Excellent. Full working knowledge of Autodesk design tools including Revit and AutoCad Experience within Offsite and Modern Methods of Construction an advantage HNC qualified in a building/design related subject as a minimum Qualifications HNC qualified in a building/design related subject as a minimum Compensation & Benefits Information The position will require a Company car , laptop and mobile phone as it will be a client facing position This job was originally posted as
