Job Introduction To provide a safe, timely and effective driving and support service 365 days per year for the GP Out of Hours Service in Fife. Main Responsibilities To undertake all patient journeys in accordance with appropriate Safe Systems of Work and the agreed Transportation Protocols To complete vehicle checks prior to use and to notify any defects directly to the Fleet Supervisor verbally and by recording on appropriate documentation To ensure the necessary medical, hygiene, comfort and reference equipment is complete and in the vehicle prior to call out Maintain the hygiene, tidiness and cleanliness of the vehicle both internally and externally at all times using the relevant safe systems of work and infection control procedures To carry out the agreed start up and close down procedures at all sites Maintain accurate, legible and retrievable records for all operational systems using both manual and computerised systems The Ideal Candidate Skills and abilities Good communication skills Good literacy and numeracy skills Ability to carry out manual handling including the lifting of patients and equipment. Proven ability to handle sensitive situations professionally, assertively and tactfully Basic IT skills e.g. word, e-mail Must be able to successfully complete the training course for role for a GP Out of Hours Driver which involves a formal assessment following clinical and driver training. Must be willing to undertake training in line with requirements of the post. Personal attributes Self disciplined and able to work on own initiative or as part of a team High standard of personal hygiene; clean, tidy and professional appearance Flexibility to work rota hours, additional hours, nights, bank holidays and weekends as required Must be able to pass medical assessment as determined by the business’s Occupational Health Department Applicants must have satisfactory clearance of a Criminal Records Bureau check Full driving licence including a minimum provisional C1 License with no penalty points for new entrants or a maximum of 3 for existing employees.
