We are looking for a Independent Safety Assessor with a strong C&I background, this role offers a truly unique opportunity to be involved in a landmark project for the UK's Power Industry. How would you like to put your name on something as huge as the next generation of Nuclear Power Stations for the UK? This role is perfect for a C&I expert to support the Independent Technical Assessment process for Safety Cases and Modifications. You will support the licence and consent applications, the design process and future operations, taking into account best international practice and relevant UK government agencies. This role is required to provide an independent review process and challenge project safety submissions, initially the Construction Safety Justifications and Pre Construction Safety Reports as well as design modifications. This review and challenge should be in accordance with INPO, WANO and IAEA best practices and in line with UK and French experience, to enable the project to produce and maintain a credible Nuclear Safety Case in support of the nuclear site licence and future operation of the station. The post holder will be required to support the evolvement of the ITA section and help develop the necessary processes and procedures to conduct independent technical assessment of safety cases and design changes covering design, construction, commissioning, and operation. The post holder will ensure that a high standard of health, safety, quality, security and environment management prevails throughout all areas of responsibility and that performance is maintained within parameters defined by the programme. Skills - Degree qualified. - Demonstrable understanding and experience of using the relevant International Standards for example IEC61508 and IEC61513. - An understanding of the requirements for assessing high integrity C&I (hardware and software) - Safety Case Production and management with PWR experience being highly desirable. - Practical experience of developing and implementing Nuclear Safety Case and Modification processes. - Good understanding of quality arrangements required in UK nuclear regulated environment. - Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation including CDM, Nuclear Site Licence, and Environmental Permit requirements, and how this relates to activities in the project Accountabilities - The post holder is accountable to the Independent Technical Assessment (ITA) Manager. - Assess the adequacy of design changes against relevant company, national and international Standards and relevant good practice. - Assess the adequacy of safety cases against company guidance documents such as the Nuclear Safety Design Assessment Principles. - Present an independent view on technical and safety case issues to external Regulators and the Nuclear Safety Committee. - Assimilating the outputs from the assessments to provide a high level view of the effectiveness of the design and safety case processes, and escalating any issues as appropriate. - Develop relationships and networks to understand the project plans and activities within area of expertise, in order to ensure that the Independent Nuclear Assessment is scheduled into the plan with adequate time This advert was posted by Gold Group - one of the UK's leading niche recruitment consultancies.
