A fantastic opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to join a busy manufacturing organisation as a Buyer. Key Responsibilities of the Buyer; Supplier management through KPI’s, robust commercial practice and clear communications. Selection of new suppliers in conjunction with Supply Chain Team to optimize and consolidate the supply base, making maximum use of purchasing leverage. Drive improvements to MRP systems and data to meet Production and Service requirements. Work with materials control to ensure stock levels are optimised. Work closely with Planning to ensure correct forecasts are communicated to Supply Chain. Take all practical measures to minimise inventory levels through challenging MOQ’s and lead times and stocking agreements where appropriate. Regularly benchmark significant spends to ensure material costs are minimised. Work with suppliers and engineering teams to ensure that cost reduction opportunities are realised. Personal Specification of the Buyer; CIPS qualification would be an advantage. Proven Purchasing experience is essential. Experience within a manufacturing environment. Strong communication and negotiation skills. Excellent IT skills including Intermediate Excel skills. Good working knowledge of MRP / ERP systems. Ability to effectively prioritise workload. Ability to work well on own initiative and as part of a team. Self-motivated and enthusiastic.
