Purchasing Assistant / Buyer Location: Kirton in Lindsey, Gainsborough Salary: circa £20,000 DOE Contract: Full Time, Permanent My client is a leading supplier and installer of Vehicle Restraint Systems; including Safety Barrier and Parapet Systems. They are also one of the market leaders of Environmental Barrier (Acoustic) and General Fencing. They currently have an exciting opportunity for a Purchasing Assistant / Buyer to join their team. Responsible for the timely placement of purchase orders, on-time delivery of materials to meet customer order requirements and maintenance of stock inventory levels within approved guidelines. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities Purchase material for inventory and non-stock items for warehouse, customer orders and various sites. Ensure materials are bought on time and on target cost Ensure all materials are procured through the most appropriate route for the Business Negotiate with suppliers for better discounts Look to continually improve purchasing methods and drive down external spend. Investigate and determine what/how/why material came in incorrectly or damaged. Working closely with other departments including accounts, estimating and site. Monitoring price increases and communicating changes as necessary Maintain clear records, and filing systems. Maintain personal ability in, and appropriate use of, all relevant ICT and other systems as required Evaluate own strengths and limitations to be able to continue self-development within the role. General Admin duties required to complete the role. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and suppliers. Key Skills and Attributes Must be a self-starter and team player Strong organisational skill and ability to prioritise Clear and concise written and communication skills Good commercial awareness Confidence, presentation skills & negotiation skills The ability to make decisions and work accurately under pressure Ability to work with minimal supervision Education and Training GCSE level grades in English and Math (preferably C) Knowledge of Microsoft Office Computer literacy Minimum 3 years purchasing experience, preferably in the construction sector.
