Job Title: Production Planner Department: Operations Location: Leicester Hours: 36.5 hours Responsible to: Head of Production Overall Purpose Production planning & scheduling is an important decision-making exercise. Primary aim is to meet product due dates and achieve maximum possible throughput from the production system by scheduling the resources. Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities Prepares and maintains daily, weekly, and monthly processing schedules for a three-shift operation. Liaising with Operations regarding Scheduling conflicts or issues. To demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality. To liaise with Client Services on Inbound work. To ensure that staffing levels are sufficient for the work load on the working shift in conjunction with the Shift Manager. To maximize efficiency driven by the schedule in production ensuring expectations are achieved. Constantly plan out all warehouse resources and activities in relation to the daily, weekly and monthly schedules. Demand planning and forecasting, coordinating the demand forecast of all customers and sharing the forecast with all internal and external suppliers. Resource planning, including current stock inventory and forecast demand, in collaboration with all suppliers. Responding in real time to disruptions Any other duties as directed by your line manager. In the context of rapid and ongoing changes within the organisation the above responsibilities represent the current priorities and requirements for the post. PERSON SPECIFICATION Education/Qualifications Essential/Desirable Good education to GCSE level including English/Maths Essential ECDL/ICDL(or equivalent) Desirable NVQ Business Administration Level 4 Desirable HNC/HND Business related Qualification Desirable Experience Production Scheduling in Manufacturing Environment Essential 3 years working within the Print and Mailing Industry Desirable Competencies The following competencies (behaviours and characteristics) have been identified as key to success in the job.
