Drivers Direct are looking for a Transport manager on a temp to work for their Busy and well known client in Swadlincote. Job Description: · Reporting to the Transport Manager, responsible for all operational and site aspects of Transport for the Swadlincote Multiuser operation. · Maintain a proactive approach to risk management and adherence to both site and legal health & safety regulations/requirements to ensure a safe working environment. · Conduct the departments safety monitoring and ensures the colleagues Health & Safety and legislative training is up to date. · Ensure the operation consistently meets the requirements of the business, in terms of quality, productivity, daily and weekly operations reporting and key performance indicators (KPI) management. · Create and sustain effective working relationships within Transport, to build a climate where colleagues feel valued and engaged. · Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and added value whilst key service levels are not affected. · Manage the delivery of the Transport KPI’s through effective use and interpretation of reports. · Ensure that all site and company legislative processes and procedures are adhered to at all times. · Responsible for developing a collaborative relationship with internal teams & suppliers to ensure that communication within the operation is consistent. · Motivating others through briefings and one-to-one meetings. Has the ability to listen, be approachable and promotes this through colleague engagement. · Knowledge and experience of relevant transport management systems and an appreciation of warehouse management systems. · Thorough knowledge and experience of road transport legislation including tachograph, Working Time Directive and vehicle maintenance. Nature and Scope · Conduct driver de-briefs and communicate announcements to the team. · Ensuring the daily equipment checks have been completed to the site standards. · Monitor and manage all absence from work in line with the company absence ensuring all Return to Work Interviews are completed and action taken where required. · To ensure all accident / incidents investigations are carried out and reports provided to the site Transport Manager and Health & Safety Manager. · Be pro-active in the planning of the working hours and patterns including precise and accurate handover shift by shift. · Liaise with warehouse department daily to assist in the best way to consolidate loads without jeopardising the service to stores. · To promote a safe working environment for all colleagues and that all the colleagues are briefed on statutory regulations as well as company regulations · Building a positive, proactive relationship with other operations and departments across the site. · Produce accurate KPI’s on a daily basis for the Transport Manager ensuring all information is reliable and precise. · Ensure all drivers are fully trained to carry out their contractual duties and tasks effectively. · Represent the transport Department on the colleague improvement forum and health and safety committees on site. Candidate Required · CPC Qualification is desirable · Track record of success in both operational and supervisory/management roles. · Experience within a management position within Transport and Distribution Centre Management, preferable in a Retail or similarly fast paced, high volume environment.
