Carrington Power Station is a 880 MW combined cycle gas turbine plant, near Manchester. It's a key
element of our strategy - delivering growth, reducing our carbon intensity and positioning us to compete
in our home market of Ireland and Great Britain.
This Power Station is the latest state of the art power station to be built in the UK. This is a highly
efficient Gas Fired Power Station and is able to provide enough electricity to power 500,000 homes.
Applications are invited for the position of Mechanical Technician to join our team. As a
Mechanical Technician you would typically be responsible for the planned and reactive
maintenance of the plant and report to the Mechanical team lead.
Key Responsibilities
Duties will include but not be limited to :
* Fault finding and maintaining assets in accordance with the technicians specialist technical
* Maintaining accurate maintenance records using Maximo
* Supervising and directing contractors.
* Writing and implementing procedure and work instructions
* Comply with corporate and statutory safety and environmental obligations.
* Carry out authorised roles under the safety rules, particularly in respect to receiving and
cancellation of safety documents.
* Liaise with other departments as required or directed
* Carry our project work and activities as directed.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* At least 6 years post apprenticeship experience as a Mechanical Technician.
* Significant knowledge of Mechanical maintenance gained from a heavy engineering industry such
as Renewable Energy, Power Generation, Petrochemical or Chemical Production etc.
* An understanding of mechanical, heavy rotational and pressure systems is desirable.
* Excellent team work and communication skills
* Proactive attitude towards health & safety
* Ability to organise and prioritise work.
* Experience in liaising with relevant statutory bodies and contractors.
* Experience in project management and / or good planning skills.
* Good IT skills.
* A relevant craft engineering Apprenticeship qualification.
* A relevant Academic qualification in this discipline such as
o City & Guilds
o NVQ Level 3
o B.Eng.
* The successful candidate will be part of an on-call system.
