An experienced PLC Controls Engineer who is degree educated is needed to join a Multi Billion Pound business based in Plymouth. Experience with Allen Bradley and Omron equipment is highly desirable along with the ability to program and fault find on PLC and Servo controlled equipment.

This is a key role within the business which is why my client is able to offer a great salary of up to £45k DOE and offer company related bonus, stakeholder pension, share scheme, attendance bonus and great facilities onsite.

Main Duties

Responsibility for providing control system support, with the implementation of cost reduction, process improvement and capital addition programmes is the cornerstone of this Controls Engineer role, which reports to our Process Engineering Leader. Further support for the software and control systems equipment associated with manufacturing will be another key accountability, together with the control and development of equipment software revision and supportive documentation. Amongst other key deliverables are to:

- Plan, design and specify both improvements to existing and new processes
- Ensure software resides in a controlled, accessible environment
- Advise on control system upgrades
- Validate software and control systems.


- Experience in a related environment, ideally medical device manufacture or pharmaceutical is an advantage.
- Demonstrated achievement with software and control systems in a related environment.
- Experience of programming and fault finding PLC and servo controlled equipment.
- Experience with Allen Bradley and Omron equipment would be advantageous.
- Able to generate and modify electrical drawings, preferably using AutoCAD.


- Have a first class or upper second class honours degree from a recognised university specialising in engineering disciplines or relevant experience with HND / HNC.
- Additional postgraduate qualifications or relevant work experience will also be an added advantage, but not essential.
