As Building Surveyor you will work in a team providing a broad range of building surveying, civil engineering and construction expertise across the organisation to maintain and improve existing buildings, infrastructure and other structures or facilities.

The right Building Surveyor candidate will have primary expertise in building surveying related matters such as facilities management, inspections, contract specifications and tender document preparation, feasibility studies, risk assessments, method statements, design, estimates, project management, contract administration, financial and budget monitoring, consultants briefing and direction, condition surveys, supervision and direction of on-going contracted or direct labour works. This will include the provision of site supervision with particular regard to specification compliance, quality and health and safety.

Financial awareness, financial planning, budget monitoring and control are key elements of this role.

Job Role

* To undertake building inspections, produce designs to solve issues, procure the works and administer building contracts.
* Producing detailed contract documentation, technical reports including statements of requirements, specifications for tenders, drawings and monthly project reports.
* Planning, execution, and monitoring of minor works up to large building projects and planned maintenance programmes.
* To form part of the in-house asbestos management team.
* To assess Contractors, Consultants and Suppliers against safety and quality competency criteria and make recommendations for appointment.
* To assist, when required, as Project Manager or Employer's Agent in agreeing interim certificates for payment, final accounts and claims resolution on engineering projects.
* To comply with all safety instructions and to accept responsibility for your own safety and the safety of others who may be affected by what you do. To identify potential risks in the work area, and to report such risks promptly to management.

Job Requirements

* Recognised degree in an appropriate building surveying, building engineering or similar discipline.
* Full membership of a relevant professional institution, eg. CIOB, RICS or similar.
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role
* Previous experience in the following - Building surveying, Condition surveys and assessments, Building engineering and design Contract specifications, documentation & administration
