Over client has a 60 year history specialising in the process of cleaning Industrial plants that dislodge deposits from Super Heaters, Economisers, Heat Exchangers, Boilers & Furnaces.
Due to growth in the UK and the unique business service they provide, the organisation has a growing presence in the Northern Regions of the UK. They are initially looking to recruit a professional to the Sheffield region in to a Blasting Assistant role with who has the potential to grow the role in to a supervisor role in order to assist the running of the region. You will be working with a team mate on client site, carrying out scheduled cleaning maintenance on large Industrial process facilities such as Power Stations, Refineries, etc.
The Cleaning process uses small explosive charges to create shockwaves, in a safe and controlled manner as these build-up’s cause blockages, obstructions or reduce efficiencies for their clients. This action is performed whilst these large blasters are still in use and therefore you will be exposed to environments of extreme heat.
This is a physically challenging role and one that requires plenty of flexibility to be away from home in some cases a couple of days at a time. It also requires you to be on call at weekends.
Because of the environment and the Super boilers, heat exchangers and similar equipment that you clean are in a 24/7 industrial process, there are jobs that will be performed at such times the client allows, thus requiring flexibility to work over your 8 hour days.
You must be use to a contractor environment where by you may work 3 days one week, 5 days the next, 4 the next and so on. There will be occasions where you will finish a job at 3pm and you will have to travel to the next ready for a 9am start elsewhere.
Experience of working for an Engineering contracting company on Industrial process sites would be an advantage to give you the idea of the nature of each job.
You will be working as part of a team of two, where all equipment and vehicle is provided for the job in hand. Travel and Hotel expenses will be covered in full and Overtime is expected and will be paid at a higher rate.
Due to the increase in business in the North West / Yorkshire region, this person will need to be living within 30 minutes from the centre of Sheffield allowing you to get together with the team at short notice on a daily basis. Travel and project work can be all over the UK.
This is a permanent role, 40 hour contract for an industrial technician with a clear focus of health and safety in some very hostile Industrial Sites/ Environments. You will need to be physically fit and flexible in terms of your movement day to day. You will need to be living in and around the Sheffield area with ideally no more than a 30 minute journey in to Sheffield for you each day.
Any training, support and mentoring will be given in detail if needed. The key to a successful placement is your mechanical aptitude to work and attitude to flexible working around the UK and dedication to manual labour
