Electronic Design Engineer

This is a fantastic position for a Senior Electronics Design Engineer to join an ever developing organisation that designs and manufactures a truly unique product . You will be responsible for generating a broad range of electronic design concepts in line with customer requirements and in line with the engineering specification , including associated international standards , military standards and the companies requirements .

Key Responsibilities:

+ Reading , understanding and translating customer performance based specifications, related documents , EU directives , associated standards and other legislative requirements into engineering specifications
+ Performing and document performance calculations which validate requirements or verifying designs and trade studies, by using hand calculations, spreadsheets or suitable software packages
+ Identifying and maintaining electronic hardware , software and mechanical interface requirements to ensure successful system integration
+ Verifying the work of team members , including checking or approval of engineering drawings for functionality and correctness
+ Producing top level system schematics from which detailed designs may be developed , and developing detailed designs from top level layouts
+ Producing a variety of detailed plans , specifications , reports and presentations
+ Presenting design reviews to internal and customer review boards
+ Overseeing proof of concept manufacture and verification of system of components as required
+ Determining the best , most commercially sound solution within the given parameters whilst optimising manufacturability
+ Conducting interchangeability and obsolescence analysis in support of new and legacy designs
+ Preparing retrofit and modifications designs
+ Mentoring and auditing output of more junior team members
+ Produce and maintain engineering electronic drawings
+ Develop and maintain bill of material and cost models for product
+ Estimate electronic engineering hours for product development and production support work packages / tasks
+ Allocate and monitor team tasks via the project management system, and provide regular progress reports to the integrated project team/departmental management team.

Skills and Experience Required:

+ Full lifecycle experience in electronic product design , development , integration , qualification and certification , gained in a mechanical , aeronautical, defence or related engineering industry
+ Leadership of a team producing innovative designs to rigorous requirements whilst considering quality , commercial and financial aspects
+ Excellent understanding of analogue circuit design , with a proven track record of producing innovative designs considering manufacturability and testability
+ Analytical and logical thinking including the application of a variety of problem solving methodologies
+ Ability to objectively assess , document , review and mitigate risks , including the use of design failure modes and effects analysis
+ Thorough expertise in US / UK electronic standards and understanding of modern manufacturing methods
+ Creation and delivery of presentations
