ALH Recruitment are looking to recruit a Manufacturing Manager for a world leading Electronics Manufacturing company based in Peterborough.

Job Purpose
Directs the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to maintain proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency. Ensures the Manufacturing Engineering Team and all other departments work together cohesively and is responsible for the development of equipment to aid in the manufacturing process.

Areas of Responsibility / Tasks

Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.

Lead the Engineering team and assist them in developing their skills and competencies.

Analyze and design lean manufacturing cells using effective systems and simulation tools to optimize use of space, equipment, material and personnel.

Assist in developing plant layout in planning rearrangement of facilities, equipment and operations for better utilization of space.

Works closely with Research and Development and Quality Assurance to prevent problems with products and tooling/fixtures.

Directs department activities to assist with daily production support, as a priority, new product designs, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.

Determine and eliminate root causes and diminish occurrences in the manufacturing process.

Able to assist in reducing cost through re-engineering product/process/material.

Ensure that all manufacturing product specifications are developed and testing procedures are in place before starting up vendors and/or subcontractors.

Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to plan projects.

Confers with management and production staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.

Forecasts operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests.

Advises management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations.

Provides direction and example for interpretation and application of company policies and procedures to the engineering activities.

Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations, and develops recommendations accordingly.

Skills / experience
Bachelor's degree (BSc) in Engineering from four-year college or university; or ten to twelve years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

A self-motivated technically competent individual with a great appreciation of cross functional activities within an electronic and mechanical industry. Managing technical improvements in a production environment tracking staged progress working with other disciplines on performance and design.
