Senior Engineer - Cold Cure & Skins

Job Purpose:
An exciting opportunity exists within one of the world’s leading luxury brands to develop and engineer components to deliver the number one attribute of company vehicles: Style!
The role will suit a dynamic and motivated engineer with experience of delivering A Class surface components via a range of technologies including stamped panels. The successful candidate will have the potential to develop into a Technical Specialist.
The job holder will work to lead the design and development of Body Structures A Class Surface components and assemblies with the minimum of supervision. He/she will supervise the design of components for future vehicle platforms for performance and quality from conception through to Job 1 +90 days.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:
The job holder will be expected to engineer components to meet whole vehicle, system and component level targets for performance and quality. Key roles and responsibilities include:
Leading the engineering and design of A Class Surface components to meet performance and visual targets;
Performance target setting (in conjunction with Body CAE & relevant PAT (Programme Attribute Team));
FESO (Final Engineering Sign Off) document ownership;
Creation of design schemes for system;
Guiding the design of A Class Surface panels;
Liaising with Design department to resolve panel feasibility issues;
Liaising with suppliers to resolve feasibility issues;
Liaising with vehicle packaging to ensure complete vehicle integration;
Liaising with PATs to ensure compatibility with relevant attribute targets;
Managing concerns, containments and permanent corrective actions;
FESO document ownership;
Leading DFMEA activities;
Incorporating QHR (Quality History Review) review output into target setting and design processes;
Creating design guides and specifications for A Class Surface panels;
Maintaining relevant project documentation.

Qualifications & Experience:
i) The job holder is required to operate within the following processes and procedures:
Managing system delivery through the AM-PCS (product Creation System) framework and Body Engineering Failure Mode Avoidance process;
Monitoring and updating of components through the ECMS change management system;
Contribution to the releasing of finished designs through Aston Martin’s in-house releasing system;
Review and presentation of design concepts through Vis-Mockup or other media.
Offer support to Closures Team to develop feasible A Class Surface panels

ii) The job holder will be expected to work as follows:
Standard 39 hours per week;
Core hours are 7:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Thursday and 7:30am to 12:30pm on Friday;
Overtime to be worked as necessary, subject to work load and problem resolution timing constraints and with the prior agreement of the Senior Manager.

iii) The successful candidate will be able to take a system from concept studies through target definition, supplier selection, engineering development, FDJ (Final Data Judgement) and up to Job 1 + 90 days.

iv) The job holder should have experience of designing mixed material solutions for A Class Surface panels and closure systems. Knowledge of metal stamping and composite processes and joining techniques will be essential, and an in depth understanding of press tooling is desirable.
Work with PMST Leader to deliver relevant components and systems within variable and investment cost targets (and to required quality, timing and mass/performance targets).
PC or Workstation for the use of Teamcenter Visualization Mockup, Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Powerpoint;
Office stationary resources.
Experience of TCE (Teamcenter Engineering);
Good presentation skills;
Ability to sketch and convey design ideas;
Microsoft Excel spreadsheet and PowerPoint presentation skills essential.
Busy office environment, working from a desk with a computer and, when necessary, spending time on the production line, and in the prototype workshop and studio to discuss new designs with stake holders. Work driven by targets, design briefs, programme VPP timing and requests from Senior Manager and Chief Engineer.
Travel to both UK and overseas suppliers will be necessary from time to time.
Daily interaction with the lead Senior Manager for the vehicle programme and other engineers and weekly interaction with the Chief engineer
