Our client is a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with an established presence within the water sector.

Their flood risk management team tackle complex issues in the wake of climate change and coastal erosion, from initial planning through to construction projects. The ideal candidate will play a lead technical role and will require a good understanding of the wider market and new and innovative developments within the UK flood risk and water sector.

We require a Senior Hydraulic Modeller to join their team in Peterborough. This is an enviable role as you'll be leading on the delivery of hydraulic modelling projects, including 1D and 2D models for rivers and surface water. Your skills will include analytical use of GIS software. You will have good technical and project management skills and the confidence to lead technical work for our clients, as well as help team members in developing their skills. We actively encourage strong, direct relationships with our clients, so you will also assist in building networks that will underpin new business. A team player whilst being an independent thinker is essential. You should be highly motivated and influential with the ability to provide sound and reasoned technical reporting. You will also share our passion for environmental solutions and can work with our clients in making the most of our opportunities.

Key challenges:

* Working in collaboration with other design disciplines (both within the UK and wider company) to ensure the integrity of the overall design
* Providing input to project team, leading by example to achieve sector goals and championing quality and innovation.
* The ability to learn new and innovative techniques to derive hydrology for overseas projects.


* Developing both 1D and 2D hydraulic models (using ISIS, ISIS-TUFLOW, Hee-Ras as well as other hydraulic modelling software as required)
* Preparation and data analysis using GIS software (ArcGIS, Maplnfo)
* Project Management
* Supporting and developing junior hydraulic modelling staff
* Data Analysis
* Report Writing and Presentation
* Field Work as required on a project by project basis

Qualifications and Experience:

* Bachelor's degree in an appropriate analytical subject (Civil Engineering , Environmental Science , Water Resources , Engineering Hydrology)

* A further Master's degree in Engineering Hydrology, River & Coastal Engineering , Water Resources Technology etc.
* Chartered or working towards with CIWEM or ICE
* Excellent communication and analytical skills
* Excellent report writing skills
* Ability to manage commercial aspects of projects
* Ability to lead and carryout FRAs and an in depth knowledge of UK flood risk policy
* Proven experience in fluvial hydraulic flood modelling
* Proven GIS experience
* Hydraulic design of flood risk management schemes
* Carrying out technical reviews of hydraulic models and FRAs
