This is a great opportunity to join an established International Design & Innovation Consultancy. You will be given full scope and responsibility to see your projects through from concept to full production.

The role of the Senior Designers is to be a key member of the team and actively involved with specific Company projects from brief to delivery. This includes designing, modelling, testing and production of prototypes.

Role Responsibilities of the Senior Designers:

Taking new projects from Design Director or Creative Director and co-develop the project plan to meet client budget.

Meetings with clients to establish the design brief, including the concept, performance and production criteria.

Budget and deadline focused, driving project success through task completion to delivery.

Ensure that all tasks of the design process are considered and completed.

Set tasks for self and utilise appropriate staff for specific tasks.

Develop relationships with existing clients in current projects and scoping future projects.

Comfortable with client meetings.

Project administration skills including creating company template project folder structures and management of the project data from start to finish.

Quality check final design output prior to submission to a client following agreed company process and procedure.

Liaise with team members, clients, suppliers, external subcontractors in a high-quality, timely, professional and cost-effective manner.

Aware of project budget including design time, prototyping, expenses and travel costs.

Design expertise of the Senior Designers:

Empathy and passion for user-centered design.

Understand tasks for self and manage own time to ensure timely completion.

Supporting Lead product designers, carrying out tasks set by lead product designers

Appreciates the value of the front-end of the design process.

Develop key user requirements from contextual research.

Understand the market positioning of a product to its market.

Awareness of consumer trends in specific industries (medical, safety, PPE, FMCG).

Contribute significantly to idea generation sessions.

Link research insights to the development of specifications and initial concepts.

Able to produce highly quality product visuals in digital and hand renderings.

Communicate form through a variety of prototyping techniques.

Strictly adhere to specifications and standards.

Application of visual brand language communicate its value proposition.

Understand and apply high quality aesthetics to a concept.

Generate a wide range of innovative concepts and assist in client decision making.

Adopt the company's protocols for file naming and folder structures.

Advanced level of 3D CAD modelling skills including surface modelling (Creo, Solidworks etc)

Considers the assembly and disassembly of parts in CAD development.

Understands the wider implications of design changes on the product, user, context, environment, manufacture and cost.

A broad knowledge of manufacturing processes with depth in design for injection moulding.

Identifying the suitability and availability of materials.

Analytical skills to foresee issues and opportunities for design.

Practical engineering principles and aptitude for problem solving.

Conduct prototype testing in accordance with specifications and standards.

Create compelling verbal and non-verbal presentations for clients.

Highly confident in verbal, drawing and written communication to clients.

Takes pride in the quality of completed work.

Experience of the Senior Designers:

Educated to Degree Level in Product Design, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent through relevant experience. Minimum 4 years product design experience, ideally in consultancy.
