The Client:

My client is one of the leading companies in the growing UK highways management and maintenance market. They work on behalf of the Highways Network and manage over a third of the UKs road networks.

They work as a strategic partner to develop intelligent transport systems and a strong design capability through their expertise within highways management, maintenance and consulting.

The Role:

Due to continued expansion and an increased workload the client require an ecologist that is keen for a more diverse and varied role that will involve Environmental Assessment. The role will involve conducting Environmental Assessments and to assist in the delivery of environmental schemes related to Highways projects.

Tasks/Responsibilities as follows:
* Undertake environmental assessments.
* Assist/undertake depot and site audits.
* Undertake ecological surveys and ecological supervision.
* Assist with the design and preparation of schemes for ecology, landscape and cultural heritage.
* Assist with duties relating to the CHAMP and the environmental database EnVIS.
* Assist with VM preparation.
* Undertake environmental toolbox talks and training.
* Adopt and implement the client's Policies and Strategic Environmental Plan, promoting environmental principles and best practice.
* Actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with the general Health and Safety responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Procedures Manual.
* Perform other duties as may from time to time be reasonably required.

The Candidate:

Typical Skills/Experience as follows:
* Essential: IT, numeracy and literacy skills, able to operate spreadsheet systems, input, extract and present complex data to communicate with others.
* A relevant degree in biology or environmental sciences.
* Demonstrable experience surveying for protected species, in possession of at least one protected species licence.
* Knowledge of environmental assessment related to highways.
