Essential skills include: familiarity with the software engineering life cycle for development and the concepts and practices required to implement effective IT solutions, proficiency in Java technology stack especially Spring, JPA, Web Services (REST and SOAP) and Message Queues.
A computing discipline to HND or degree level (or equivalent) would be highly advantageous as would experience of working in Agile development environment and/or a background in financial services. Knowledge of Apache Camel could also be useful.
You will be a technically proficient individual who is used to working in a team. You will have excellent problem solving abilities using a logical and analytical approach, with close attention to detail. You will be familiar with a software engineering development life cycle and the practices required to implement effective IT solutions. Furthermore you will have experience of working in a commercial environment and possess excellent communication skills.
About the role
The Java Developer is responsible for the interpretation and conversion of functional specifications into detailed design and testing plans resulting in the writing of maintainable code. To achieve this they will have to ensure that the Company standards and processes are used. The role also requires interaction with other developers to ensure common understanding of the required solution to be achieved.
