Senior Linux Systems Analyst
A fantastic opportunity for a Computer Science or Information Technology practitioner looking to build a career in the financial services sector. The Company requires a full time permanent IT Systems Linux Administrator, to join the Infrastructure and Operations team providing core IT support to our trading and support staff on a shift rota basis.
The position would suit a candidate with professional experience and a passion for technology. Ideally the suitable candidate is someone looking for their second or third role with circa 4 years of professional experience and their main exposure having been with Linux platforms.
Key Responsibilities include:
Support to developers and remote support to London trading floor
Installing and configuring operating systems and applications for Linux and Windows;
Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks;
Troubleshooting applications (proprietary and mainstream), system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware/software faults;
replacing parts as required;
providing support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports;
supporting the roll-out of new applications or hardware;
setting up new users' accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues;
testing and evaluating new technology;
Skills & Experience:
Professional experience in the following technologies or concepts:
Linux administration (preferably enterprise distributions such as SLES/RHEL/CentOS/etc)
Building Linux systems, configuration, and performance monitoring.
Experience with the following would be beneficial but are not essential:
Microsoft Server, Workstation and Microsoft Office suite technologies.
VMware virtualisation concepts
Web/HTTP technologies (Apache, IIS, Intranet, etc)
Programming/Scripting (bash, Python, C, Powershell)
Knowledge of Jira, MongoDB, IIS/Apache
Pro-active can-do attitude with excellent problem solving capabilities
An education background in either Computer science or Information Technology
Circa 4 years or more professional experience in a similar role, ideally in the Financial Services environment;
Excellent time keeping and prioritisation skills, so IT support issues are dealt with in a timely and efficient manner
Excellent communication skills and ability to build a good rapport with colleagues
